Tasting note: This blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon offers a complex flavour profile. The ripe black fruits provide a juicy sweetness, while the Cabernet Sauvignon component adds a touch of herbal complexity and subtle earthiness. There is a nice balance between the fruit flavours and oak influences, with hints of cedar, vanilla, and a touch of baking spices complementing the vibrant fruit notes. The wine is bright and medium-bodied, with gentle tannins and remarkable depth of flavour for such an inexpensive red. It drinks nicely now and would also take a few years of ageing well.
Bouquet: On the nose is an abundance of sweet plums, ripe blackberry, and red currant with hints of jubes and red liquorice rounding out the palate.Â
Palate: The palate is both generous and elegant with mouth-filling sweet, Cabernet-driven dark fruits, primarily blackberries, and a touch of white pepper that is expected from this Langhorne Creek single vineyard. The tannins are firm, with lovely natural acidity which balances well with the fruit's sweetness.Â
